I am a sportswriter turned educator turned entrepreneur turned UX designer turned UX / UI design educator. My eclectic background has helped be hone my problem solving, collaboration and communication skills – among others – that have resulting in my ability to thrive at the intersection of technology, design and business. My projects have included working with independent business owners all the way up to Fortune 500 (including several in the top 25).
I really enjoy speaking/mentoring new designers to help them through their journey, as I have walked through that similar path. It’s a journey that requires lots of support and mental endurance.
My background is quite unique, I was in a couple of industries prior to design from sales to customer support. Coming from a sales background, I gained empathy for the business side of the product and the strategies needed to effectively communicate. With a customer support background, I gained knowledge in user research strategies. As a product designer, I currently focus on our design system as well as being the subject expert in data-driven design.
